Introduction: Stunting remains one of Indonesia's major chronic nutrition problems, with national prevalence at 21.5% (2023) and 19.8% (2024). Community awareness and active participation in monthly growth monitoring at posyandu are still limited, particularly in mountainous villages such as Surenlor, Trenggalek, where limited internet connectivity and low health literacy make it difficult for parents to understand and follow up on their children's nutritional status.
Objective: to increase the awareness and active participation of parents and the community of Surenlor Village in monitoring toddler nutrition through CASTING (Care & Stunting Tracker), an offline-first Android application that automates WHO 2006/Permenkes No. 2/2020 anthropometric Z-score calculation and presents the results in an easily understood visual format for four nutritional indicators (TB/U, BB/U, BB/TB, IMT/U).
Method: This community service activity was conducted on August 6, 2026, in Surenlor Village, Bendungan District, Trenggalek Regency, involving eight parents or guardians of toddlers. The activity comprised three stages: preparation (coordination with the Village Government and Posyandu volunteers), implementation (presentation on stunting and the CASTING application's functionality, followed by a hands-on session where participants installed and used the app), and evaluation (recording participation and administering a questionnaire to assess participants' self-perceived ability to use the application).
Result: A total of eight participants completed the entire activity; seven of them successfully installed and used the CASTING application independently, and seven expressed an intention to regularly monitor their children's nutritional status using the app. Based on the participants' self-assessments, the highest proficiency was demonstrated in installing the application and entering measurement data, whereas understanding the "Growth Oracle" feature still required further guidance for the majority of participants.
Conclusion: The CASTING mentoring program effectively fostered active parental participation in the independent monitoring of toddler nutritional status in Surenlor Village. An offline-first, app-based approach proved suitable for areas with limited internet connectivity. Ongoing support and the strengthening of digital literacy remain necessary particularly regarding more technical features as part of plans to expand the initiative to other villages in Bendungan District.
