Introduction: Sentra Wirajaya Makassar provides social rehabilitation services for vulnerable groups, including individuals with mental and physical disabilities, children in conflict with the law (CCL), survivors of narcotics, psychotropic, and addictive substances (NAPZA), and children requiring special attention (AMPK). Service recipients (Penerima Manfaat/PM) commonly face psychological challenges such as low self-motivation, lack of enthusiasm, and an unclear sense of life direction, which collectively contribute to low self-efficacy.
Objective: The purpose of this service was to implement the Motivation In-Jar technique as a psychosocial intervention to enhance the self-efficacy of PM at Sentra Wirajaya Makassar.
Method: This public service was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach over two months. Implementation stages included initial assessment, compilation of affirmation messages, daily application of the Motivation In-Jar technique, group discussions, and reflective evaluation. Data were collected through observation and informal interviews, then analyzed thematically.
Result: Most PM, particularly from the CCL and NAPZA groups, showed improvements in self-motivation, enthusiasm for daily activities, and awareness of life meaning. However, a small number of PM found the affirmation language too formal and insufficiently relevant to their personal experiences.
Conclusion: The Motivation In-Jar technique proved effective, practical, and applicable as a psychosocial strategy supporting social rehabilitation. Affirmation messages should be tailored to the linguistic characteristics and personal backgrounds of each PM group to maximize impact.
